Swami Suryapada is uniquely gifted with a gentle personality, a beautiful singing voice and a brilliant intellect. We enjoyed satsangs with Swamiji that combined chanting, music, knowledge and meditation. There is a difference between knowledge that is known by the head (that is, “gyana”) and knowledge that is experienced (that is, “vigyana”) which does not need any proof. Swamiji explained this and also beautifully talked about the unity of consciousness. Through the chanting he lead us into deep meditation so we were lucky enough to get both: the intellectual knowledge as well as the experiential knowledge. He was in New Jersey because of an invitation to give a day-long yoga and meditation session at the AKKA World Kannada Conference. Swamiji is from Karnataka, India and served as Head of the Physics Department at R.V. College of Engineering in Bangalore before becoming a full-time Art of Living teacher. We were impressed with the clarity of his explanations. He is able to convey a lot in a few words.
