Hurricane Sandy caused massive destruction in New Jersey and New York destroying homes and leaving many without power for days.  Responding quickly to this major disaster, IAHV (International Association for Human Values) in partnership with United Way organized a food, clothing drive for Hurricane Sandy Relief. In a few days, we collected donations and braved the snowstorm to pack them. The boxes were delivered to the United Way office by Nov 9th.

Donate online at www.iahv.orgfor ongoing relief efforts.

Thank you to all for the generous donations and to Manoj Warrier for organizing the drive! Here are photos of us packing boxes at the Art of Living center and delivering them to the United Way office. Photos by Maya Yajnik.

IAHV Hurricane Sandy Relief

As you know Hurricane Sandy has wreaked havoc in New Jersey. Many people across the state have lost their homes, belongings and sadly, loved ones. With the shortage of gas and the continued power outage in many areas, people are looking for extended support from organizations like the Red Cross and United Way.

THERE IS A GREAT URGENCY for the basic necessities and more importantly emotional support.

In an effort to do our part to those in need, the International Association for Human Values (IAHV, a sister organization of the Art of Living Foundation) has partnered with United Way to conduct a MEGA FOOD & CLOTHING DRIVE. We have a goal to collect 1 ton worth of donations for the drive which will end this coming WEDNESDAY 7TH AT 7PM.

We will be collecting the below items at the Art of Living Center – 212 Durham Avenue, Metuchen, NJ

non-perishable food gently used clothing (sweaters, jackets, coats, etc.), blankets, new socks, underwear, toiletries, hygiene products, diapers, gently used toys, monetary donations (donate online at www.iahv.org, check can be made to International Association for Human Values)

It’s getting colder in the coming days and shelters are still filled with families and people who have nowhere to go and nothing to eat. We’ve been blessed in abundance to be reading this in the warmth and comfort of our own home. Here’s an invitation for all of us together do something good for our community. The time is now. Please give generously.

For those of you who’d like to get involved in the volunteer efforts in the next 2 days and beyond, please get in touch: 732.429.2312/732.991.0062. We would love to have your help and support.

Keep Warm, Keep Safe
In Gratitude,
Metuchen Volunteer Team
